Course Handbook and Learning Stages
Selection of Learning Stage
When you open a chapter Cyber*School offers you a course handbook as
well as a choice of three learning stages.
When you access the course handbook, the program opens a PDF document with
the contents of the relevant chapter. This can also be printed out. The
course handbook contains all the knowledge you will require to answer the
questions in the learning stages and take the test for this chapter.
Depending on your preferred learning method you can start your
Cyber*School training immediately or work through the course handbook
first. You train by answering a whole range of different questions. The
level of difficulty increases with each learning stage.
Please note that a new browser window will open each time you access the
course handbook. This process may take some time, depending on your PC
settings. In order to save time, once you have opened the course handbook
we recommend that you do not close the browser window using the
"X" button, but minimise it using the "_" button. The
course handbook will then appear in the taskbar and can be quickly
maximised again whenever you need it.
Learning Stage 1
This stage supports you in building upon the basic knowledge learned from
the course handbook. It sets questions on the chosen chapter, the sequence
of which corresponds to the sequence followed by the course handbook.
After answering a question you receive immediate feedback. The correct
answer will be displayed together with an explanation. When you access
learning stage 1 the relevant overview will appear immediately on your
screen. In the overview you can see at a glance how many basic questions
are available on a chapter and how many you have not yet answered and/or
how many you have answered correctly and incorrectly so far. You can
access each of these questions directly using a simple mouse click. The
program will store your personal status for each basic question and recall
it each time you log in. This means that you always carry on from where
you left off at the end of your last training session. If you wish to
repeat your training in learning stage 1, click on the "restore
LS1" button. All questions will be restored to unanswered status and
you can start again from the beginning.
Learning Stage 2
This stage verifies whether you have understood the interrelationships
between the concepts in the course handbook and assimilated the subject
matter. The questions are newly formulated and appear in a random
sequence. Although you receive immediate feedback on whether your answer
was "correct" or "incorrect", the correct answer and
an explanation do not appear automatically. They can, however, be viewed
at any time.
When you access learning stage 2 the first question appears immediately.
The question status overview can be accessed at any time using the
"overview" button.
Your result in learning stage 2 is not stored by the program. If you
choose to end the learning stage, the "game" begins anew when
you log in again.
Each time you log in you will be asked different questions in a different
sequence.
Learning Stage 3
This stage is a chapter test which prepares you for the world test and
the final test. It works on the same principle as learning stage 2, but
this time you answer the questions against the clock. You do not receive
immediate feedback. The correct answer and explanation cannot be viewed
until you have completed learning stage 3.
When your time has run out the program ends the test automatically and
calculates your score. When you access learning stage 3 the first question
appears immediately. The question status overview can be accessed at any
time using the "overview" button.
Your best result in learning stage 3 is stored and displayed in the
chapter overview together with the average result of all course
participants.
